Bayou La Batre

Samuel Lyons, in shadow, and his father, Rodney Lyons, center, take a break from refurbishing their boat, the Rose Bud in Bayou La Batre, Ala., Wednesday, June 23, 2010. Bayou La Batre, a fishing town, near the Mississippi Sound, has been heavily impacted by the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill. The Lyonses own Samuel's Seafood, which distributes seafood brought in from local boats, but since the oil spill, large parts of the Gulf of Mexico are closed to fishing. Rodney Lyons said they've lost 100-percent of their business. Lyons hasn't tried to contract with BP for the Vessels of Opportunity program because he said he wants to have his boat ready if they re-open parts of local waters to fishing.
