Homeless on the Ohio River

Harry Shoup and Terry hang out at a homeless camp on the banks of the Ohio River in Cincinnati, Ohio, Sunday evening, March 5, 2006, with the Covington, Ky., skyline in the background. A brief rain and snow storm had just passed, so the men placed a plastic barrel on the fire at regular intervals so the plastic would keep the fire going even with the moisture. Shoup said he served 25 years in prison after being charged as an accessory to murder. Terry said he was a military veteran who had fought in the Gulf War.
