Jeff spent the Fourth of July at Gulf Shores shooting a travel story for the LA Times. It seems so long ago now. The crowds that weekend were underwhelming to say the least. The oil spill was on everyone’s minds and very visible in the form of tarballs, heavy machinery, and workers up and down the beaches. The gist of the LA Times travel piece was that the Gulf Coast may be down, but it’s not out. Two months later, watching traffic crawl along Highway 59 over Labor Day weekend, that seemed to be true.
